2nd Quarter Residential UpdateMonday Night Football Event
Leasing and sales of residential units remain strong in the Front.  As of the 2nd Quarter, there are an estimated 1,863 residents living in the Capitol Riverfront, with over 2,000 residents expected by the end of the year.  Second quarter leasing for the six residential projects is as follows:

  • The Axiom and Jefferson at Capitol Yards, and Onyx on First = 60% of combined 960 units leased
  • 909 at Capitol Yards = 25% of the 237 units leased
  • Capitol Quarter by EYA = 88 of 113 units sold
  • Capitol Hill Tower Co-op = 80% of 344 units sold

Rock the Rooftops at Onyx Apartment's Grand Opening

Meet the designers of the Peeps diorama winners selected by the Washington Post on Saturday, June 27 from 6 - 9 pm.  Get your sugar fix with free marshmallow Peeps, compliments of Just Born, and brainstorm creative ideas for your own Washington Post Peeps diorama contest next Spring.  Also this Saturday at Artomatic, cheer on your favorite cardboard car creation at the Artomatic 500 race at 3:30 pm! 
 
EYA roofCapitol Quarter by EYA Model Townhomes Open
Tour two 4-story model Capitol Quarter townhomes by EYA, the nation's largest LEED for Homes certified for-sale neighborhood.  Open daily from 11 am - 6 pm, the townhome models demonstrate water efficiency, energy efficiency and use of sustainable materials.  There are a total of 160 townhomes in the first phase with 113 of the units for sale at market rate and below market rate; 88 of the 113 homes have been sold and residents are continuing to move in.  The townhomes combine classic DC rowhouse architecture with modern amenities and will include market rate homes, workforce homes, and affordable rental homes.  Learn more here.

American Girl DayFirst Annual American Girl Day at the US Navy Museum

Farmers MktConcerts, Outdoor Movies and Weekly Farmers Market

Pick up fresh veggies, home-baked cookies and cakes, or fresh herbs at the US DOT Farmers Market.  The Market also includes hand-crafted jewelry, bamboo, a smoothie booth, hot lunchtime food and more! The Farmers Market runs every Tuesday through the 3rd week of November from 10 am - 2 pm at the 3rd Street Courtyard at M Street. 

Summertime events are in full swing in the Front!  At the Wednesday noontime concerts, area employees enjoy lunch outside while enjoying live music including Caribbean, top 40, Doo Wop and blues!  The US DOT cafeteria brings the kitchen outside with BBQ and Sweetgreen's Sweetflow Mobile provides soft frozen yogurt for dessert.  Next week, the Backseat Betties will rock Tingey Plaza from noon - 2 pm.

Come belt out your favorite 80s tunes at 8 pm karaoke and stay to watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off at the Best of the 80s outdoor movies at Tingey Plaza behind US DOT beginning at 9 pm.  Bring blankets, chairs, and be sure to pick up slapbracelets, 80s candy and more at the movie!  This week CBS Evening News will be filming for a segment next week on outdoor community movies!

Eastern Market's Grand Reopening
Take part in the all day Street Party this Saturday from 10 am - 6 pm and celebrate the Grand Reopening of Eastern Market.  The celebration will include live music with four bands, food, facepainting, family activities, market tours, an Eastern Market exhibit and all of your favorite merchants, vendors and farmers!
