Happy One-Year Anniversary to Our Clean & Safe Team
Over the past year, our Clean & Safe Team has drastically improved the cleanliness and appearance of the Capitol Riverfront, as evidenced by the results of the recent perceptions survey. From welcoming commuters arriving off the Metro in the morning to setting up for the weekly farmers market to answering questions from visitors, the team helps to foster community in the neighborhood. With the addition of six workers from the DC Department of Employment Services, area maintenance has increased: 652 trash bags collected in September (almost 30,000 lbs!), 82 grass-mowing hours, and 16 hours of pressure washing sidewalks, as well as continued weeding and tree removal.
The Clean & Safe Team is easy to spot in new uniforms that include long sleeve blue polo shirts for cool autumn days and a winter hat and double-layered jacket.
Over the past year, the team's presence has greatly contributed to the increased cleanliness, friendliness and community of the Capitol Riverfront. Congratulations to all the members of the BID's Clean & Safe Team!
