The Capitol Riverfront BID will hold its annual meeting luncheon on the 7th floor of 100 M Street developed by Opus East on Thursday, December 18th at 11:30 am.  The luncheon will feature keynote speaker Greg Leisch, founder and Chief Executive of Delta Associates, an update on the state of the BID, awards for our Clean & Safe team, and an announcement of the fiscal year '09 Board of Directors elections.  The BID's Annual Report and State of the Capitol Riverfront will be distributed as well.

Onyx Open House Draws Crowd
Live music provided by a resident's jazz band, hors d'oevres, and wine were enjoyed by about 100 people who came to Onyx on First's Grand Opening on Wednesday, November 19th.  Visitors took the specialty tours which showcased several apartments with balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows, a zen-like courtyard with a waterfall and lighted trees, and the fully landscaped rooftop with lounge/pool.  Since the Grand Opening, leasing has increased about 5% in just 2 weeks.  Stay tuned for details on the BIG Grand Opening in the spring that will be held on the rooftop!

rap Up Your Shopping
at the First Annual Holiday Market
For three days, the Capitol Riverfront will be transformed into a holiday market with local artisans selling handcrafted jewelry, pottery, crafts, watercolors, photography, and more, bringing the magic of both the Downtown Holiday Market and Eastern Market to the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood.  The market will take place just off the Navy Yard Metro, at the intersection of M St. and New Jersey Ave., SE, on Tuesday, December 16th, Wednesday, December 17th, and Thursday, December 18th from 11:30 am to 6:00 pm.

Sights & Sounds of Holiday Season in the Capitol Riverfront
Sparkling along M Street and New Jersey Ave., snowflakes on the lightpoles illuminate the area and signal the start of the holiday season in the neighborhood.  Visit the Capitol Riverfront in the evening to see the area lit up with the festive snowflakes!

Visions of Jazz, brought to the neighborhood by the DC Commission of Arts and Humanities's Holiday Music in Public Places event
, will perform at the Navy Yard Metro station, at New Jersey Ave. and M St., SE on Thursday, December 11th from 4-6 pm.  Stop by to enjoy Vision of Jazz's performance - a combination of Latin, Brazilian, Swing, Classical, and Contemporary Jazz.  
matchbox Opens on Barracks RowMatchbox
Be one of the first to enjoy signature mini-burgers with onion straws, thin crust pizzas and happy hour cocktails at the new matchbox restaurant on Barracks Row, 8th Street, SE, which officially opened Friday, December 5th.  The industrial modern decor is similar to its Chinatown restaurant with exposed brick walls and skylights, and expanded menu offerings such as shrimp and grits.  The new matchbox is housed in the space once occupied by a vending machine company; a shuffleboard table left behind is now part of the large bar.  matchbox brunch begins the weekend of December 13th, and lunch service is slated to begin in January.
