New BID Offices With 3-D Model of the Capitol Riverfront
In late May, the Capitol Riverfront BID moved into its
new office space at 1100 New Jersey Ave, SE Suite 1010 (directly across from
the Navy Yard metro station). The BID offices offer
great views of the area's transformation, showcase renderings of the coming
developments, and display a full-scale model of the Capitol Riverfront within
context of the city and adjacent neighborhoods. The model illustrates existing and future
development and the close proximity of the Capitol Riverfront to the Capitol
Building, downtown, the Anacostia River, Reagan National Airport, and Northern Virginia.
Schedule an appointment or stop by at
your convenience to visit our new office. (Pictured From Left: Ted Skirbunt, Kathleen Kruczlnicki, Claire Schaefer and Michael Stevens)

Clean and Safe Team
Congratulations to William Wardlaw who celebrates his sixth month as Clean
& Safe team supervisor this July. William first joined the team last
September as a Hospitality Ambassador. Workers, residents, and visitors
coming off of the Navy Yard Metro were welcomed by his friendly greetings and
helpful answers to questions prior to assuming his new role as supervisor.
In January, William was selected for promotion to be supervisor of the
entire Clean & Safe Team crew. In addition to his success as a Clean & Safe Team supervisor, William is a
talented vocal artist. William has performed at such venues as Blues
Alley, Carter Barron, and Wolftrap. This past week he treated the
audience at the Capitol Riverfront Concerts to a cameo performance.

Creating A Green Neighborhood
Did you know that the tree boxes in the Capitol
Riverfront are wider, longer and deeper than traditional DC tree boxes in order
to promote better health of the trees and assist in collecting stormwater
run-off? The design of the tree
boxes is part of the Capitol Riverfront's commitment to environmental-sustainability. The Capitol Riverfront is home
to the 67,000 sq. ft. green roof on the U.S. DOT building comprising 85% of the usable roof space, it is the largest green roof in the Mid-Atlantic. In addition, the Capitol Riverfront is also home to the
first LEED certified ballpark, new construction built to meet LEED
certification, and the entire Yards project is part of the LEED Neighborhood
Development pilot program. The
Capitol Riverfront will have four new parks, one of which, Canal Park, will collect
stormwater on-sight, filter it, and then store it for use in water features
throughout the park.
