bolden2Tim Bolden
Resident, Onyx-on-First

Tim Bolden credits his move to the Capitol Riverfront in March of 2009 as having been a stress buster.  Moving to DC for an 18-month project from Atlanta, he traded a 60-mile round trip daily drive for a four minute commute.

"I'm less stressed in the morning when I go to work and less stressed when I get home," he says, adding that he has more time and energy to enjoy things.

When he was relocating, his brother and others who live in the Washington area all told him the place to be was Northwest and the 'much desired' Red Line Metro route.  However, Bolden was thumbing through an apartment magazine for listings in the DC area and kept seeing ads about new construction in the Front.  He figured that if companies were investing millions to put up buildings in this neighborhood, it was worth a look.

So the project manager turned Senate staffer, flew up from Atlanta one weekend, toured Onyx-on-First and was hooked on the area.  The shorter commute, access to major highways and convenience of the Green Line Metro were deciding factors for Bolden.  Additionally, with Metro Police, Capitol Police and Homeland Security keeping watch over residents and many government facilities in the area, he enjoys the feeling of a safe and secure neighborhood.

Bolden says his move to the Front has enriched his life tremendously.  He's found an incredible community of people with whom he socializes - attending games and events at the Verizon Center and Nationals Park, going to restaurants and happy hours, working together on holiday toy drives or hanging out playing Scrabble.

"I don't call them my neighbors but my friends.  It's a diverse and inclusive neighborhood of people from all backgrounds who want to experience things.  This neighborhood reminds me of the hospitality I grew up with in Atlanta.  This feels like home," Bolden says.
