TJ Oleksiak
Resident, Townhouse

Before there was baseball, before there were the street improvements, before the new construction, TJ Oleksiak was a believer in the Capitol Riverfront.  In 2005, the IT consultant purchased a 100-year-old house, one of a small number of historic homes in the neighborhood, and watched as this city within the City began to rise right outside his front door.

"There have been drastic changes since I moved in - roads popping up in places that they weren't before, the construction of condos, apartments, and townhomes.  Very quickly it started to feel like a whole new place," he says.tj photo

One of the many things he enjoys about the neighborhood is its location is both convenient and connected.  The Nationals Ballpark is a huge amenity as are the restaurants on Barracks Row and the proximity to Capitol Hill.

The promise that TJ saw in the "early days" is being fulfilled - the value of his home has increased since he purchased it.  New residents continue to move in and construction of new parks is underway.  There is a vibrant and growing community of people living in the Front that goes to baseball games and picnics, attends outdoor movies in the summer and throws great parties on rooftops of apartments and condos.

"When I bought my house 5 years ago, I was hoping I would feel safe and have some fun things to do nearby.  Both of those hopes have been realized, and what is here now is just the beginning!"
