 Harris Teeter Now Open!
Capitol Riverfront residents and employees are celebrating the opening of the first full-service grocery store in the neighborhood!
Harris Teeter grocery store in The Yards opened its doors to the public on Tuesday, November 4th, 2014 with its Grand Opening at 401 M Street, SE. The festivities began at 5:30 pm with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a preview of the store's most unique products at Taste of Teeter.
Set in the recently opened Twelve12 complex in The Yards, the 50,000 SF Harris Teeter is within walking distance of Nationals Park and the growing residential population in the Capitol Riverfront. The grocery store is surrounded by top neighborhood destinations as well as the riverfront Yards Park and Riverwalk Trail. At full build out, The Yards will feature approximately 2,800 residential units (both for lease and for sale); 1.8 million SF of office space; and up to 400,000 SF of retail, restaurants, entertainment, and services.

Canal Park Ice Rink Opening This Weekend
It's time for ice skating again! The Capitol Riverfront BID is excited to announce that the Canal Park Ice Rink will open this weekend on Saturday, November 8th, with a weather-dependent soft opening.
The Canal Park Ice Rink Grand Opening will be held on Saturday, November 15th, with family-friendly events throughout the day including face-painting, balloon-making, and a photo booth. Stay tuned for more details!
The ice rink will have the following hours throughout the winter: Monday and Tuesday from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm; Wednesday from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm; Thursday and Friday from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm; Saturday from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm; and Sunday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Admission is $9 for adults and $8 for children, seniors, and military. Skate Rental is $4.

Parcel Market to Create a Winter Wonderland in the Capitol Riverfront
Beginning Friday, December 12th, through Sunday, December 14th, Parcel Market will transform Canal Park in the Capitol Riverfront into a festive winter wonderland with the best independent retailers, craftsmen, and cuisine in DC. Parcel Market, presented by t he Capitol Riverfront BID, is an exciting winter market curated by the celebrated husband-and-wife team behind DC Meet Market, DC-based street artist Kelly Towles and DeNada founder & lead designer Virginia Arrisueño. Parcel Market will feature ice skating at the Canal Park Ice Rink and creative retail that showcases local small businesses, artists, and designers. Vendors will include Be Clean, DeNada, Matine, Mutiny, Native Danger, TCI Letter Press, Winthrop Clothing Co. for pets, and more! The Parcel Market dining lounge will feature DC foodie favorites and warm drinks in a relaxed atmosphere complete with fire pits. Live music from local DJS and performers will also fill the air.

Southern Cuisine Coming to The Yards
Forest City Washington has announced that Due South, the latest restaurant to be added to the impressively growing dining scene at The Yards in the Capitol Riverfront, will open in spring 2015. The southern-style restaurant will occupy a 3,366 SF space at the northwest corner of the Lumber Shed, located at 301 Water Street SE, at the edge of the waterfront Yards Park.
The new restaurant is the latest concept from Georgetown Events, a DC-based restaurant and entertainment group lead by Bo Blair. "We were early believers in the Capitol Riverfront as a vibrant location for food and drink since opening The Bullpen in 2009," said Blair. "Now, we're very excited to be able to become a permanent part of The Yards."
Due South joins Agua 301, Osteria Morini, Ice Cream Jubilee and the Navy Yard Oyster Company (also opening in spring 2015) in completing the restaurant array in the all-glass, adaptive-reuse building on the riverfront. Like the other restaurants in The Lumber Shed, Due South will have outdoor seating, as well as scenic views of the surrounding Yards Park through its dining room's floor-to-ceiling glass. With the signing of Due South, The Lumber Shed is now fully leased.

Unleashed Now Open by Pupular Demand
The "anything but ordinary" Unleashed by Petco is now open in the Capitol Riverfront for all of your four-legged friend's needs!
Located in the Boilermaker Shops at 300 Tingey Street, SE, Unleashed is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, and on Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Unleashed carries a wide variety of pet supplies, including gourmet puppy treats and festive apparel. Yappy Hour is held every Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Unleashed and features half-off washes at the self wash stations, as well as treats for pets and parents.

Brews and Bites This Weekend at Nationals Park
The DC Beer Festival returns to Nationals Park this Saturday, November 8th, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a once in a lifetime opportunity to eat, drink, and play on the Nationals Park field! The festival will bring together dozens of craft breweries and feature fall seasonal beers, live music, games, DJs, delicious beer and food truck cuisine.
Ticket prices are $40 for general admission (1:00 pm to 4:00 pm) and $60 for VIP (12:00 pm to 4:00 pm). Admission includes unlimited tastings, with grub sold separately from a number of food trucks.
