Nationals games begin next week! The Washington Nationals will play an exhibition game at Nationals Park on Tuesday, April 3rd at 3:05 pm against the Boston Red Sox.  Tickets for the exhibition game can be purchased here.

 

The Nationals open the regular season on the road this year, and the team will play their home opener at 1:05 pm 
on Thursday, April 12th against the Cincinnati Reds.  Games against the Reds will continue through Sunday April 15th.  Get tickets here.

DC Circulator Hours Extended for Summer

  

Beginning Monday, April 2nd, the Union Station-Navy Yard Circulator route summer hours will be extended to weekdays from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. Additional late night and Sunday service will also be provided on Nationals game days so that fans can travel to and from the games efficiently.
 
Circulator buses arrive at each route stop every 10 minutes and cost just $1.00! For more information about the DC Circulator routes, click here

Opening Weekend Block Party

 

Justin's Cafe will be hosting an Opening Weekend block party on Saturday April 14th from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm on First Street SE, between L and K Streets, SE to celebrate the neighborhood excitement for the 2012 baseball season.  The block party will be held rain or shine with food, local craft beer, live music, and other fun activities!

 

THE FAN FM will be broadcasting live the Nationals vs Reds game starting at 4:05 pm, and money will be raised for free youth baseball and softball programs in Washington DC through DC Grays and S.M.A.R.T. Camps and Clinics.  There is no admission fee, and all ages are welcome!

Congratulations to Foundry Lofts

 

The Washington Business Journal has nominated Foundry Lofts as a finalist in the multifamily development category of the Best Real Estate Deals of 2011. 
 
Located at 301 Tingey Street, SE in the Capitol Riverfront, Foundry Lofts is an adaptive reuse of a historic Navy Yard industrial building developed by Forest 
City Washington and includes 170 loft apartments, 33 of which are two-level penthouse apartments, as well as 10,000 square feet of street level retail.  Since leasing began in September 2011, 80% of the Foundry Lofts has been leased.

Cherry Blossom Lantern Making Family Day

  

The National Cherry Blossom Festival Lantern Making Family Day will take place on Saturday, April 21st at the Yards Park.  There will be two shifts during which children can create Japanese lanterns: 10 am to 12 pm and 12 pm to 2 pm.
 
Plenty of entertainment will be provided, including a performance by Hapmudo Martial Arts group on the boardwalk and the Appalachian Children's Choir. Seoul Food DC and Far East Taco Grille will be selling Japanese cuisine, and Pinkberry frozen yogurt will be on sale. Global Nepal in Yards Park

 

The Global Nepal Festival will take place 
in Yards Park on Saturday, April 14th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.  This event serves as a wonderful opportunity to experience the Nepalese culture and traditions.
 
The festival will feature cultural dances 
and music, as well as traditional art pieces of Nepal. Vendors will be serving authentic cuisine and showcasing various products of Nepalese origin.  Information about travel & adventures in Nepal will 
also be available.

Earth Day Anacostia River Clean-up and Celebration

 

Join the Anacostia Watershed Society 
and other local organizations in cleaning up the Anacostia River and its tributaries 
in honor of Earth Day.  
 
Sponsored by CSX, the clean-up will 
occur on Saturday, April 21st from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at nearly 40 sites throughout the Anacostia Watershed in Montgomery and Prince George's

There will be a celebration following the clean-up from 12:00 pm to 2:00 in the RFK parking lot #6 near the bridge that takes you to Kingman and Heritage Islands.  The celebration, part of The Nature Conservancy's Picnic for the Planet, will feature notable speakers and live music by local reggae band Proverbs.
