ParkTavernFaces of the Front: Angel Carvalho with Park Tavern
Park Tavern, with windows overlooking the vibrant dancing fountains in Canal Park, is a great place to cheer on the Nationals and enjoy both pregame and postgame food and fun!

With the Nats back in town this week, we sat down with Park Tavern's General Manager Angel Carvalho to talk about what it's like to run a restaurant in a park and what she loves about working in the Capitol Riverfront.

How would you describe the Capitol Riverfront to friends and visitors?

The Capitol Riverfront is unique in that it has something to offer for everyone; the young crowd and the active families. Canal Park offers a unique serenity for those who prefer to be more relaxed.

BisnowBisnow's "On the Waterfront" Highlights Booming Riverfront Development
The interest in current development along the Anacostia Riverfront was prominent at "On the Waterfront," Bisnow's most popular event in history held Thursday, June 11th at Arena Stage. The event featured two panels of stakeholders who represented development projects in the Capitol Riverfront and the Southwest Waterfront neighborhoods.

Capitol Riverfront BID president Michael Stevens gave opening remarks, highlighting the value of Capitol Riverfront development with the phrase "water is magic." These words were echoed among the Capitol Riverfront panel, moderated by Todd Stokes of Baker Tilly and featuring Don Capobres of Grosvenor Americas, Brad Fennell of WC Smith, Deborah Ratner Salzberg of Forest City Washington, Frederick Rothmeijer of MRP Realty, and Rob Ward of Skanska Commercial Development.

The panel discussed their perspectives on neighborhood development in the residential, retail, office, and hotel markets while emphasizing the Capitol Riverfront's authenticity and amenities. The panelists also revealed their vision for the future of the Capitol Riverfront, referring to it as a remarkable neighborhood with a truly mixed-use environment!

DCWaterDC Water Proposes Capitol Riverfront Headquarters
DC Water, provider of drinking water and wastewater treatment services throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia, recently submitted plans to the DC Zoning Commission to build a new $55 million headquarters in the Capitol Riverfront.

The new 167,000 SF headquarters, located adjacent to the historic O Street Pumping Station, will be bounded by N Place, SE, Canal Street, SE and the Anacostia River. The proposed headquarters will combine and move all administrative personnel into one centrally located facility, and is expected to save DC Water as much as $2 million per year in operational costs. DC Water hopes for a mid-2017 delivery.
