CuisineTaKorean Brings Korean-Style Cuisine to the Capitol Riverfront

 

Popular Korean BBQ taco restaurant TaKorean is scheduled to officially open Monday, August 18th at The Yards in the Capitol Riverfront.

Located in Twelve12 at 1212 4th Street, SE, the fast-casual restaurant will serve tacos, slaw bowls, and rice bowls. Each can be topped with a choice of bulgogi, ssamjang-barbecued pork, chili and soybean paste-marinated chicken, and hoisin tofu-sauces, as well as a variety of slaws. Customers can craft brews and sake as a beverage options, as well as iced tea brewed in-house!

TaKorean will hold a soft opening Friday, August 15th at lunchtime and will be closed over the weekend before its grand opening on Monday. Welcome to the Capitol Riverfront, TaKorean!

Friday, August 15th

Anacostia Riverkeeper hosts Friday Night Fishing at Diamond Teague Park from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Yards Park Friday Concert from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in Yards Park features 19th Street Band. Pack a picnic or dine local, and wind down your week with some rockin' on the riverfront.

Washington Nationals versus Pittsburgh Pirates at 7:05 pm.

After the Nationals game, enjoy a "Freedom Fireworks" show in the Capitol Riverfront featuring military pageantry and patriotic-themed music. The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team will perform on the field following the game.

HamptonHampton Inn Construction Now Above Grade

 

Capitol Riverfront residents and employees may have noticed the concrete columns while passing by the future Hampton Inn & Suites site at 1st and N Streets, SE. As development continues on the hotel, construction is now above grade.

The LEED Silver certified hotel being developed by the Buccini/Pollin Group will be 13 stories in height with a rooftop that offers a bar, event space, and views of the stadium, the Capitol, and the Anacostia River.

The projected completion for the 165-room Hampton Inn & Suites is 2Q 2015.
JubileeHappy One Month Birthday Ice Cream Jubilee!

 

It's been a great first month for Ice Cream Jubilee! The popular ice cream shop, which opened on July 12, 2014, will celebrate the Washington Nationals and its first month birthday by giving a free additional scoop to anyone who presents a Nationals game ticket when making a purchase. 

Fans who show their ticket for any home game can sweeten their single scoop purchase with a "double play," a free second scoop on the house.

This limited-time free-scoop offer is valid while the Nationals are playing at Nationals Park from Friday, August 15 to Saturday, August 24, 2014. Happy Birthday Ice Cream Jubilee and Go Nats!
BannersNew Banners Highlight Capitol Riverfront Amenities

 

Looking for restaurants and attractions in the Capitol Riverfront? Let the newly installed fence banners in front of Nationals Park be your guide!

The banners, which are located along Half Street between M and N Streets, SE and on N Street between Half and First Streets, SE, were installed by the Capitol Riverfront BID in partnership with Monument Realty in an effort to activate the sidewalk and beautify the space.

e fence banners display a variety of local retail, parks, and entertainment options in the Capitol Riverfront, as well as maps for locating these amenities.
JBGJBG to Develop Near Nationals Park

 

The JBG Companies recently submitted documents for a 13-story, 290-unit mixed-use project in the Capitol Riverfront to the DC Zoning Commission.

In addition to 290 apartments, the building located at the corner of South Capitol and N Streets, SE would have two levels of retail and three floors of underground parking. 

The architect on the project is Toronto-based firm Hariri Pontarini. The building is anticipated to deliver in 2017.
PupsNationals Host Pups in the Park Through September 

 

Due to "pup"ular demand, the Washington Nationals have added another Pups in the Park night at Nationals Park!

Take your four-legged friend out to the ballgame on Wednesday, September 24th at 7:05 pm to watch the Nationals take on the New York Mets.


Owner tickets, which include access to the Picnic Area Pup Zone, cost $25. Pup tickets cost $10, which will be donated to the Washington Humane Society. For more information, click here.

Join the Anacostia Watershed Society as they celebrate 25 years of service to the Anacostia River on the evening of September 22nd from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Osteria Morini in the Capitol Riverfront.
