How would you describe the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood to friends/visitors?

I've been living in DC for 17 years now and I never thought I would be leading a kitchen in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood! It's really exciting to see what is here in the neighborhood already, and I can't wait to see what else is in store.

DDOTDC Department of Transportation to Host Capitol Riverfront Public Meetings
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host two upcoming public meetings on the Virginia Avenue, SE Streetscape Restoration and DC Circulator Bus Service Improvements.

Virginia Avenue, SE Streetscape Restoration Review Meeting
DDOT, ANC 6B, and ANC 6D will host a public meeting on Monday, September 28th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at 200 Eye Street, SE (Photo identification required) to review proposed plans for the restoration of the Virginia Avenue, SE streetscape following the completion of the CSX Virginia Avenue Tunnel project. CSX is reconstructing the 111-year-old railroad tunnel that lies under Virginia Avenue S.E. between 2nd Street and 11th Street. CSX will restore the street following completion of the project.

DC Circulator Bus Service Improvements Meeting
As part of the recommendations from the DC Circulator Transit Development Plan Update 2014, DDOT is looking at ways to improve Circulator service and performance. DDOT has completed some initial bus stop analysis as part of the planning process to enhance the route performance, and now is moving to seek input from Circulator bus riders on Wednesday, September 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Southeast Library, 403 7th Street SE. This meeting will help DDOT make a final recommendation that will then be brought back to the public for further comments. One of the strategies being considered for improvement is bus stop consolidation, which would improve on-time performance and reliability by combining bus stops that are very close together and reduce the average travel time for passengers.
