Coordination & Advocacy

Goals

Continue and enhance improvements in the public realm and streetscape

Assess and improve the demands on existing and future underground infrastructure systems as a result of rapid development in the Capitol Riverfront BID.

Assess and improve the demands on existing and future pedestrian and bike access, mass transit and parking systems.

Coordinate, advocate and work with partners to address any identified issues and to make recommendations on how to solve them.

Programs

Physical Improvements - The BID will work with appropriate DC agencies to assess the existing public realm and streetscape conditions.

Transportation and Transit - The BID will work with appropriate DC agencies, DDOT, Metro, DCST and others to assess the existing transportation and transit systems and the capacity to accommodate future development, pedestrian and bike access, transit ridership and vehicular traffic.

Parking Systems - The BID will work with appropriate DC agencies, the Nationals’ ownership, the Sports & Entertainment Commission, property owners and others to assess the existing parking system, inventory of spaces, and future demand for the area, especially in relation to baseball game days.

Utility and Infrastructure - The BID will work with appropriate DC agencies and utility providers to assess the existing underground infrastructure systems, their condition, and capacity to accommodate future development.

Performance Measures

Assessment of and strategic plan for recommended improvements for pedestrians and bikes, mass transit systems and vehicular access.

Formation of partnerships with relevant DC agencies, organizations and others to solve identified issues.
