Description
Hot air balloons have been used in the U.S. Navy since the 1860s. Children ages 5-12 and their families are invited to join the staff of the U.S. Navy Museum as they explore the history of hot air balloons in the military, and the science behind how they achieve flight by understanding Archimedes principles. After a short tour, families will make their own hot air balloon to launch at the museum. Please note: building your hot air balloon will take approximately one hour to complete.
