LEED for Homes Awarded to EYA Townhomes

On April 22nd, Earth Day, the US Green Building Council (USGBC) awarded the Capitol Quarter by EYA LEED certification for what will soon be the nation's largest LEED for Homes for-sale neighborhood.  The plaque ceremony and luncheon were followed by demonstrations of inspections needed for certification, such as the air distribution check, blower door test to estimate leakage to the outside and thermal bypass inspection.  Capitol Quarter by EYA is a model of Smart Growth development, demonstrated in the re-use of a previously developed site, accessibility to parks, water efficiency, energy efficiency, and sustainable materials.  The first residents moved in last week to Capitol Quarter, the first of 323 townhomes and affordable rentals to be built in the Capitol Riverfront by EYA
