Entertainment, Retail & Hospitality
The opening of the Nationals Ballpark launched the Capitol Riverfront as a new entertainment destination in DC. The Capitol Riverfront will offer 200,000 square feet of retail by the end of 2009 including new restaurants and shopping venues. Half Street is the urban gateway to the ballpark, as well as a lively year-round entertainment destination. The Yards blends the adaptive reuse of historic buildings with new construction and the development of a riverfront public park creating a unique place to dine, shop and enjoy the river. The Courtyard by Marriott opened in 2006 and was quickly discovered by business travelers and vacationing families, averaging an 80% occupancy rate. More than 1,000 new hotel rooms will be built in the neighborhood, providing accommodations for visitors to enjoy all that the Capitol Riverfront, Capitol Hill and the rest of DC has to offer. |
