Bonchon Chicken

Bonchon Chicken opened its newest DC area location in the Capitol Riverfront this spring. Located three blocks from the Nationals Ballpark Center Field Gate on Half Street SE, Bonchon is an excellent lunch, dinner, and pregame or postgame choice with a menu featuring “Asian Fusion” dishes such as Korean fried chicken and bulgogi beef sliders.
We spoke with Bonchon franchise co-owner Tom An recently about why he decided to open Bonchon in the Capitol Riverfront and what visitors can expect from Bonchon’s newest location.

How would you describe the Capitol Riverfront to friends and visitors?

The Capitol Riverfront is a fast-growing area with a bright future. The area already offers new restaurants, retail, and a vibrant local community with much more on the horizon.

Why did you decide to locate your newest Bonchon franchise in the Capitol Riverfront?

We of course knew about the crowds that were drawn to the area by the Nationals, but we were really excited by the growth of the local residential community.

Are there any current specials you’d like our newsletter readers to know about?

We offer an outstanding happy hour Monday – Friday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. We have happy hour discounts on draught and bottled beers, bulgogi sliders, seasoned fries, and potstickers. We also keep our kitchen open longer on game nights.

What’s your favorite dish on the menu at your Capitol Riverfront location?

Our favorite dish is the Bulgogi sliders that we slow-roast in a Korean marinade topped with our delicious Kimchi coleslaw.

What’s your favorite beer to recommend at Bonchon?

We're proud of all of our selections on tap but particularly the Asian and local beers. We offer Sapporo and Kirin along with a large selection of bottled beers.

What is your favorite place in the neighborhood?

Our favorite place in the neighborhood is Bonchon! Other than that, of course, we love the food over at Osteria Morini.
