OVATION Eye Institute's Dr. Christopher Burris has traveled all over the country for research and training, but he always knew that he'd come back to his local DC roots to practice. Dr. Burris chose Capitol Riverfront as the location for the OVATION Eye Institute (810 Potomac Avenue, SE) due to its rapid growth and the need for more healthcare services in Southeast DC. OVATION opened in early 2019, and the rest is history!

How would you describe Capitol Riverfront to friends and visitors?

Capitol Riverfront is booming! There is always a new restaurant to try, and outdoor activities are plentiful.

What is your favorite place in the neighborhood?

I’m always drawn to the water, so obviously pretty fond of the riverfront boardwalk.

As the expert, what do you think are the best ways to monitor one’s eye health?

The eyes are the windows to the soul, but also windows into overall health. The best way to monitor them is with an annual exam by an ophthalmologist.

Tell us about the services offered at OVATION Eye Institute.

We offer comprehensive ophthalmology services including screening exams, and treat conditions such as dry eye, glaucoma, and cataracts. Our specialty is in oculoplastic surgery, which focuses on the eyelids, eyebrows, forehead, cheeks, tear ducts, and the eye socket. We have a licensed optician on staff, and a full optical lab for eyewear needs.
