What advice do you have for other DC entrepreneurs?

Find a system that works for you. DC requires a lot from entrepreneurs, so instead of being intimidated by the red tape, do your research, keep things organized, and find a fellow entrepreneur you can share your experiences with.

How would you describe the Capitol Riverfront to friends and visitors?

It’s the perfect neighborhood inside DC. I can see the Capitol as soon as I step outside, am a short walk to my daughter’s school, have my pick of amazing coffee shops and restaurants, can take in a game at Nationals Park or Audi Field, and enjoy a simple picnic in the park.

With the summer season right around the corner, what events and activities are you most looking forward to in the neighborhood?

Family time at Nats games, DC United matches, and summer movies on the lawn.

Why did you decide to live in Capitol Riverfront?

Location. My husband and I moved here in 2010 and we liked that it was close to the Hill, Nationals Park, and had the promise of growth in its future.

What has been the most significant change you’ve seen in the neighborhood since you moved here?

The growth. I moved into the neighborhood when Canal Park and Yards Park were only plans. It’s been amazing to see how much has changed over the years.

As a marketing professional, what are the best ways to get your creative juices flowing on the regular?

I find getting outside helps clear my mind, allows me think through a client’s website design and marketing strategy in an unconventional way, and always brings to mind new ideas I can’t wait to implement.

Take advantage of the restaurants, coffee shops, sporting events, and everything our neighborhood has to offer — and if you’re looking for a church or to make some friends, give Waterfront Church a try.
