Quarantine Can-Do's

The effects of COVID-19 are wide and far-reaching, halting daily routines and turning life upside down. We all know what we can’t do right now, but here’s what you CAN do in Capitol Riverfront while practicing social distancing AKA cautious care.

Order Delivery/Takeout

While dining out may not be an option any longer, you can enjoy foodie-approved meals at home in your pajamas. Over 35 neighborhood restaurants are offering delivery and takeout options in response to the new District government directive to halt dine-in services. Don’t worry about keeping up with all of them - we made a list of restaurants so that you didn’t have to. Download your options by clicking on the #CapRiv Eats graphic.

Purchase Gift Cards

Consider the purchase of gift cards from your favorite neighborhood spots to treat yourself while shopping local. Here are some ideas to get you started!

For the Night Owl – Prepare for the ultimate buzz with options from Bluestone Lane, Lot 38, Philz Coffee, Peet’s Coffee, and Starbucks

For the Health Nut – Prep for a detox, or just feel a bit better about your food choices with purchases from The Juice Laundry and Sweetgreen.

For the Foodie – Snag gift cards in advance of those course-worthy dinners at ABC Pony, Albi, Chloe, Maialino Mare (all proceeds through March 24th will go into an employee relief fund), Osteria Morini, and Shilling Canning Company

For Your Next Date Night Out – To celebrate not driving each other absolutely crazy while sheltering in place, plan a purchase from Agua 301, All-Purpose Pizzeria, Anchovy Social, Circa, El Bebe, and The Salt Line.

For On the Go – Because you can still get a bit of fresh air on those working-from-home days, stock up on gift cards from Bethesda Bagels, CAVA, Chipotle, Potbelly, RASA, Subway, and TaKorean. Dryy also offers gift cards for your laundry needs.

For the Beverage Aficionados – Your next tasting, tour, and dining experience await at Bluejacket Brewery, Dacha Beergarden, District Winery, and Maxwell Park.

For the DC Sports Fan – Planning for pregame and postgame fun is always a good idea, so plan for future outings at Buffalo Wild Wings, Due South, Walters Sports Bar, and Willie’s Brew.

For Eating Your Feelings – We get it, sheltering in place is hard. Dominos, Five Guys, Ice Cream Jubilee, Nando’s Peri-Peri, Oath Pizza, Shake Shack, and Wiseguy Pizza gift cards come in handy when there’s nothing left to do but further veg out.

And because you’re still allowed to treat yourself, especially when it involves supporting local shops, gift cards to Steadfast Supply, Willow, Aura Spa, Bang Salon, Conte’s Bike Shop, Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge, Lululemon, Modern Nail Bar, Pacers, Somewhere, and Unleashed are ALWAYS available.

Get Outside

Social distancing doesn’t mean you’re stuck in your apartment for the foreseeable future. Take the opportunity to get outside on your next telework break for some fresh air and vitamin D. The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail has over 16 miles of paved trail perfect for a leisurely stroll, a run, or bike ride.

These are difficult times, but we're all in this together. Stay safe and healthy!

Thank a Capitol Riverfront Clean Team Member

The "men in blue" are still working tirelessly to maintain the cleanliness of the neighborhood. Next time you see one of them, be sure to shout a thank you or throw out an air-high five while keeping your 6 foot distance.
