10 Ways to Celebrate the Fourth of July in Capitol Riverfront

Independence Day celebrations in DC will look different this year, but you can still let freedom ring by enjoying the long weekend in Capitol Riverfront. Whether you've decided to staycation from your home or are looking to venture out to the river, here are some Holiday Can-do's for a fun and safe Fourth of July!

Dine Out or Carry Out - Over 20 neighborhood restaurants feature patio dining (reservation recommended!), and several are now serving guests indoors at limited capacities. Dine al fresco or just pick up/deliver with a variety of options which can all be viewed in real time on the Capitol Riverfront website along with available shops and services.

Picnic in the Park - Canal Park (200 M Street, SE) and Yards Park (355 Water Street, SE) are back open for socially-distanced gathering and recreation. The water features remain closed in alignment with the District's ReOpen regulations. While in the park, remember these simple guidelines to help protect yourself and others: Stay at least 6 feet apart from other groups, wear a mask, keep dogs on leashes; and please refrain from alcohol, smoking, and grilling.

Dance the Night Away - The Friday Nights from Home Concert Series finale is Friday, July 3rd with a double feature! Tune in to Facebook at 6:00 pm for an encore performance by the Jarreau Williams Experience (sans the minor technical glitches) followed by the main event at 7:00 pm - a performance by funk-soul band AZTEC SUN. Dine local during the concert with a 10% food discount at Bonchon, Ice Cream Jubilee (family packages only), Slipstream DC (pizza only), and Wiseguy Pizza between 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Just say "FRIDAYCONCERT" when placing your order for pickup/carry out.

Walk & Explore along the River - The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail has over 16 miles of paved trail perfect for a leisurely stroll along the river, a run, or bike ride.

Brunch & BBQ at the Bullpen - Get festive at the Bullpen on Saturday, July 4th between 10:30 and 10:00 pm as they host a Bottomless Brunch followed by Due South BBQ Night with a big-screen showing of the movie Independence Day.

Stock Your Bar with Tastes of Summer - Pick up a variety of crisp seasonal brews at Atlas Brew and Bluejacket, or bottles of vino at District Winery.

Celebrate Neighborhood Spots with These DIYs - Whether it's learning to properly make a pizza, mixing up a strawberry mojito, or brushing up on your boxing moves, the Virtual Meetup Series on @capitolriverfront's IGTV channel has got you covered.

Put Together a Fancy Feast - Entertaining is made simple with a variety of pantry items at Slipstream and Neighborhood Provisions/Bluejacket. Order to create your very own 4th of July spread.

Namaste for Independence Day - On Sunday, July 5th, enjoy a Yoga class from VIDA Fitness at 9:00 am as part of the Virtual Fitness Series. Sign up here for the Zoom link.

Prepare for the Return of America's Pastime - The Nationals Team Store has opened its doors again with sweet deals on World Series swag to sport while cheering on the Nationals later this month. Be prepared to wear a mask and follow other safety regulations when in the store.
