Daryl Jackson

Since moving to Capitol Hill Tower Co-op, resident Daryl Jackson has seen the Capitol Riverfront grow in many ways, especially in the amount of shopping and restaurants. "We went from a neighborhood of no amenities to a walkable neighborhood with an abundance of amenities, including restaurants, bars, coffee shops, gyms, and a grocery store. You really don't have to leave the neighborhood for anything!"

What is your favorite attribute or characteristic of the Capitol Riverfront?

The wonderful parks and the water features within them, as well as the top notch development that is taking place.

Why did you choose the Capitol Riverfront as your home?

The neighborhood is close to my office and within close proximity to all major highways, Capitol Hill, and other great downtown neighborhoods. I think that being on the Metro Green line is quite attractive as well, since I feel that most of the new development in DC is along the Green Line.

What is your favorite place to dine in the neighborhood and why?

Agua 301 because I'm usually with neighbors and we have an awesome time in a relaxed environment with great food and drinks. I also enjoy Scarlet Oak because it's just across the street from my building, and it’s a great place to hang out with neighbors and enjoy happy hour or dinner.

What is your favorite neighborhood activity?

Friday night concerts, as they bring together a very diverse crowd: residents from Capitol Hill and Capitol Riverfront in
addition to others from neighboring jurisdictions.

What has been your favorite moment in the Capitol Riverfront?

The opening of Canal Park, adjacent to my residence at Capitol Hill Tower.

As new apartment buildings are opening in the neighborhood, you’re getting more Capitol Riverfront neighbors. What is your best advice for those who have just moved to the Capitol Riverfront?

I advise any new residents to enjoy all of the wonderful activities in and around the neighborhood. Enjoy the Friday
evening concerts in Yards Park, and a walk through Yards Park to enjoy the Anacostia River views and beyond. There's also nothing better than a baseball game...Go Nats!
