Rose Physical Therapy Group's Claire Bowe

Claire Bowe and her husband Damon moved to Capitol Riverfront 8 years ago. They've stayed in the neighborhood "because of its many conveniences" and have been a pioneer of neighborhood medical services by opening the District's second Rose Physical Therapy Group location to serve the Capitol Riverfront community and neighboring areas. Rose PT is conveniently located at 1015 Half Street, SE.

How would you describe Capitol Riverfront to friends and visitors?

Capitol Riverfront is an up and coming neighborhood!  While it’s still a bit of an undiscovered gem, there is so much to do and see here.

What is your favorite place in the neighborhood?

My favorite place in the neighborhood is Rose PT of course! My second favorite place in Canal park.  Canal park is rarely crowded and a beautiful park for kids, sun bathing, playing in the fountain, ice skating in the winter, and so much more.

Why did you choose Capitol Riverfront as a second location for Rose PT?

We chose Capitol Riverfront for our second location in part because it is the fastest growing neighborhood in the city, but also because we live here and we love this neighborhood.  Additionally there are very few necessity type businesses here.  We just recently got a grocery store, shops and restaurants are popping up, but we are on the forefront of medical services for the neighborhood.

Long before you opened a PT clinic in the neighborhood, you moved to one of the residential buildings in the neighborhood. Why did you decide to make Capitol Riverfront your DC home?

We having been living here for eight years.  We moved to this neighborhood and have stayed here because of the conveniences.  We love that we are walking distance to Eastern Market, the capitol, and the National Mall; and between two metro lines.  Northern Virginia is a short drive away and the geographic location makes all of DC easily accessible.

What is the most significant change you’ve seen in the neighborhood since moving here?

The most significant change we have seen in Capitol Riverfront is the increased outdoor open spaces available for people to use.  We love all the parks and the conscious effort to make Capitol Riverfront a green open space.  In spite of all the tall buildings and dense population, it’s still a very livable neighborhood.

Capitol Riverfront’s parks and open spaces serve as excellent recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. What are your family’s favorite outdoor activities?

We have 9 month old twin daughters and our favorite outdoor activity is the shallow fountain in Canal Park.  The girls love it, and so do we!  We love that it is reclaimed water and environmentally friendly, it’s safe for small children and adds an inviting feature to the park that makes for a great, quick family outing.

How can the Capitol Riverfront community get more involved with Rose PT and your neighborhood partners?

Rose Physical Therapy Group offers many opportunities to The Capitol Riverfront community.  We are constantly hosting events both in our space and out in the neighborhood that are open and free to the public.  To support the neighborhood office worker we do regular Healthy Back workshops both in our clinic and at various businesses in the neighborhood.  To support the neighborhood runners and athletes we do injury screenings at the Pacers fun-run the second Tuesday of each month.  We are out in the neighborhood all the time supporting wellness in our community! We post all our events on our social media, so please follow us at @roseptdc for upcoming events!
