Cleaning & MaintenanceGoals Increase public perception about the cleanliness and maintenance throughout the BID. Establish Clean Team crews to clean and maintain the public realm — streets, sidewalks, parks and open spaces and the riverwalk — that raises conditions to a high standard. Schedule Clean Team service on baseball game days and evenings to enhance the visitor experience. Maintain banners, flower plantings, landscaping and other aspects of beautification. Programs Clean Team - Uniformed Clean Team personnel will sweep the sidewalks and gutters, pick-up litter on all sidewalks and tree wells, trim weeds, address any landscape maintenance needs and perform other maintenance tasks in the public realm five (5) days a week and on baseball game days. Services on Baseball Game Days - The BID plans to partner with the Nationals’ baseball organization and the DC Government to coordinate and provide additional Clean Team services before and after Nationals’ home baseball games, especially in designated priority areas. Install Trash Receptacles - The BID will purchase and install additional trash receptacles (and possibly recycling containers) in the public realm, in partnership with the appropriate DC agencies. General Maintenance Services - The Clean Team will provide general maintenance services and beautification in coordination with the appropriate DC agencies and as budget allows, such as banner installation, plantings, trash receptacle maintenance and painting light poles. Handbills and Graffiti Removal Program - The Clean Team will remove all handbills from utility polls and other surfaces and will establish a graffiti removal program in coordination with the appropriate DC agencies and other organizations. Performance Measures Improvement in the perception of the cleanliness of the BID through initial baseline user surveys, and subsequent surveys to measure progress. Monitor trash removal through monthly counts of trash bags collected. Installation and maintenance of new trash receptacles in priority areas of the BID and maintenance of other public realm infrastructure. Establishment of a graffiti removal program and report the number of removals and response time/removal. Completion of inspection forms each day to determine patterns of quality or improvement needed by route, employee or specific area within the district. |
