A new stunning public park on the site of the historic Washington Canal in the heart of DC's Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. Canal Park will transform an empty lot into a sustainable and green neighborhood gathering place and destination for the entire city. The Capitol Riverfront BID will be tasked with maintaining and programming the park. Construction began in early 2011 and the park is scheduled to be completed in the 2Q of 2012. The park will include a 3,500 square foot cafe as well as an ice skating rink in winter months.
